Thus far, this week has been... (Rocky Mountain) rocky. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I had this killer cold and sore throat. I'm surprised I still have a voice after all the coughing I've been doing. I was so congested to the point where I couldn't swallow anything -- at least not comfortably. Breathing was nearly impossible. Oh my gosh. To make things worse, I had to sit through two days of class with my nose just dripping and dripping and dripping. I thought I was born with a nose and not a leaky faucet. Ugh. Terrible. And you know when your congestion makes you sound funny and you don't want to talk? Well, I had to record a three minute speech for Spanish and create a transcription for it. I'm sure I'll incorporate sniffle and cough into it somewhere because it's essentially all you can hear. It sounds disgusting. To help fight off this nasty lil' booger of a bug, I have been curling up in a little burrito blanket with hot tea all while watching the Prince of Egypt. SO GOOD. I love the opening song... "Deliver us..." SO POWERFUL. Today has been a little better in regards to my physical well-being. I am still freezing like all the time. And I'm still congested. But the dripping has stopped and the coughing has decreased a little bit. I feel like less of a chump when I speak.
Tuesday was National Coffee day! I went to The Goat to work on homework in order to celebrate. Ok. I do it every Tuesday and Thursday. It was pure coincidence that National Coffee Day fell on a Tuesday. I guess I lucked out. For $2.46, I am able to get two 20 ounce cups of coffee. My favorite is chocolate almond. Just black. No cream. That's for the weak. TASTY. The first I drink usually right at 8:30 AM and the second I bring with me for my 11:00 AM class. SO WONDERFUL. Throughout the day I end up making a third cup... YIKES. OH, and this is my haiku I wrote about the glorious day: Coffee I love you.You taste of all things happy. Caffeine through my veins.
[THEN I translated it to Spanish: Café, te amo.
Sabor de felicidad. Llenar mis venas]
I had a test today in my history class which I studied for two hours before actually taking it. I feel good about it. One can only have so much motivation to study when a professor tells you right away that he will curve the exam. My three Spanish lit classes are going well. In one of them we're reading the infamous Don Quitjote de la Mancha por Miguel de Cervantes and the other we're reading El Señor Presidente por Miguel Ángel Asturias. Don Quijote is much easier to follow while El Señor Presidente is filled with pages and pages of confusion due to the variety of rhetoric. However, once you understand it, I think it's the better book of the two.
I rollerbladed down to campus today for a meeting and boy, it was like, mega windy. My hair and skeleton earrings were furiously blowing in the wind. At one point, I thought that my ears were going to be ripped off. YIKES. To make it worse, I rolled into the meeting in my orange crocs, a huge sweatshirt, and crazy earrings. I ended up getting "shines" (encouragement letters from my peers) regarding my outfit. I rock the awkward.Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. I just want to catch up on sleep and drink wine. Saturday I have to give a campus tour then my friend Elly is taking my senior photos (which I don't think seniors in college usually do so it's kind of a joke). Then Sunday I'm going to the Apple Orchard. In between all of that I need to do homework and real work. But, I have no doubt that it will get done... Sunday night.
So yeah. The low is that I've been super sick. Oh. I also have fruit flies. Damn strawberries. The high is that it's finally Fall: CHUNKY SWEATERS, boots, my Fall music, pumpkin spice everything, apple everything, Halloween movies, cuddling, and no more 80+ degree weather. I LOVE IT.
XOXO.

Cool skeleton earrings. Where can I get some? Are they real bones?
