Coffeeeeeeeeee

it's wednesday morning. i'm at gonzo drinking too much coffee contemplating whether or not i should get a waffle for work or just a croissant. my black eye is healed (though my cheekbone may be broken...minor detail). the sun is out. first aid kit is filling my ears and i've been working on wedding programs. what a way to start the day!

as i'm drinking ounces and ounces of coffee, i began thinking: why don't i always depend on God like i do coffee? i start each day with a cup of coffee. i have intentions of starting the day in His word, but i often don't wake up to that first alarm which leaves me only enough time to make coffee and head out for work. scalding black coffee is what fills my body, warms my heart, and gets me through the day. it stains my teeth which makes it pretty obvious that i've been drinking it. shouldn't my relationship with God be the same? i know that the Holy Spirit fills my body, warms my heart, and gets me through the day but i should be more active in letting it stain my life in such a way that i don't forget that i am His and that He is mine. He can cleanse me of the sins that stain me just like my toothbrush can rid my smile of coffee stains.  (i'm going to stop here because this analogy is getting kind of weird now).

venturing away from my spiritual thoughts, here is a brief update as to what i've been doing with my life the past few days. my friday night was WILD. i jammed to some music while doing laundry and cleaning my apartment. i followed that up with a bowl of popcorn and some bob's burgers. the life of a twenty-three year old. then saturday i casually hiked a mountain, ate some tacos, and went for another hike. my quads were pissed on sunday. i'm an active person: rollerblading, biking, hikes, softball, the annual run. my body never hurts from that. but walking up the face of a mountain at a ninety degree angle almost the whole time, is a different story. but, it was totally worth it. we set up a hammock, ate a sandwich, and just sat in the sunshine (but also cold because there was still snow)]

sunday i left for sitka (about 90 miles from juneau and about a twenty minute flight). it was BEAUTIFUL. similar to juneau, but still very unique with its mountains, volcano, and nature. it's also much smaller. it was a work trip, but i was still able to eat way too much, walk a lot, sleep a lot, AND meet up with a friend from eau claire--what are the chances?! it was so wonderful to see her and catch up.

life is good, yo.

smiles. hugs. coffee. waffles.
