Singles Connection

Well, my life somehow manages to get weirder and weirder with each passing day. It astounds me. I have no idea as to how I am still functioning, or even alive. On top of the weird, there is also a lot of bad that happens. There are times when I think that life could not take a bigger shit on me, but then it does. Maybe at the time it's seemingly bad, but in the long run, there's a reason for it. Just look at everything that happened on my last trip to Juneau and everything since: water damaged phone, broken camera, nonfunctional windshield wiper, stolen phone, horrible humans throughout the weeks, etc. But you know, I've just come out of it stronger and there are lessons to be gained from it.

So, in my recent life adventure, a few friends and myself decided to head out to a free barn dance and bonfire in the Eau Claire area. It was also a singles connection dance. We were stoked and were hopeful that we would find our soulmates (or something like that). The drive out to said barn was about 20 minutes in the middle of nowhere Eau Claire. Pitch black creepy highways, cornfields, and lightning. The whole time driving I imagined the music from Psycho's shower scene playing. We get to this barn. I need to pee. So I peed next to the car in the lawn. It was windy. So, just imagine what happened. SICK. Then we walk up to the barn and see that every man has grey hair. Every woman is driving a mom van. No one is under the age of 60. After dipping out, we looked up 'Singles Connection' and this is what we found: http://singlesconnectionec.com/

Still ready to rock, we went to the Wigwam, one of the bars downtown. We enter and the crowd was like, mid-late twenties early thirties. We enjoyed the scene. But then things got weird. Our newly found friend, Eric, began talking to me about relationship stuff, saying I should have a boyfriend, etc. Meanwhile, Eric is in a two year relationship with his girlfriend who was also at the bar. We also met a man in a onesie who began saying provocative things to us. There was just a lot happening.

And now here I am working the front desk, drinking coffee, and shivering. It's move-in day for student athletes, marching band members, etc. Thus far I've given out the wrong combination to two individuals meaning that the combination now needs to change for those rooms. I must be having an out of body experience because as a fourth year RA, that has never happened to me. WHAT THE HECK.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone and catch you on the flipside!
